Although depression hardly allows you to do what you love to do, one must get back to one's pleasing routine in order to come out of this silent yet deadly illness. Under Depression you may not feel like listening to music, playing games, meeting friends or enjoying parties, but once you make yourself strong and determined to live a stress free and bright life, all these things will invite you to enjoy. Just give a start Right NOW! And you will definitely feel the difference.
oMake yourself write. Somehow penning down your thoughts may help keep the misery away from hitting your head and heart.
oNever be alone. Find people. If it is not feasible then try to call up your friends.
oPrepare a fancy dinner for yourself or invite someone over.
oMess around on the computer. After all, this is the thing you will win over.
oWatch comedy videos.
oDance alone or hit the floor with a friend.
oSpend some time playing and giggling with a child
oBuy yourself gifts and things you longed.
oDo something unexpectedly nice for someone.
oMeditation can really help beating depression. But extreme depression doesn't allow you to meditate actually. In that case, find some soothing reading and read it out loud.
oBring in some flowers and look at their brightness and life.
oGet up. Many depressions are associated with much guilt. People prefer staying alone, in bed or in a dark room with curtains off that wind up making the depression worse. So, if you had six or seven hours of sleep, try to get out of bed the moment you wake up. It may sound tough but when you do, it's nice to have a quick and bright head start on the day.
oStop expecting too much from yourself for the time being. Impracticable expectations may worsen the feelings of failure.
oTry to go out for a movie, a ball game, or in religious or social activities. Don't overdo it or get upset if you don't feel any great change in your mood. Feeling better takes time.
oNever ever make major life decisions, like quitting job or getting married or separated while depressed. The negative thinking that accompanies depression may lead to awfully wrong decisions.
oTry to defy your negative thinking.
oAt last but not the least, do two things everyday in the times of severe crisis and depression. Be it a shower, a phone call, writing your thoughts or cooking, do any two things.
Depression never goes off in seconds. It takes time to heal when you are hurt or depressed. But it's only you who can help beat depression effectively. And Man! You are strong enough to kick depression out of your life and live life to its fullest.
