If you are looking to take your real estate sales to the next level, there are a few things you must do first. Some of this may seem a little bit backwards, but trust me, it is for the best.
First you need to figure out exactly what your business will look like after it is complete. By complete, I mean how you want things to be when you have finally made it. Be specific and detailed. Figure out what vibe you want your "company" to have. Are you going to be the one person sales team? Do you want to have an office full of assistants following up on leads for you?
Do you have a niche market in mind, or would you prefer to work with a broad spectrum of buyers and sellers? It is important to know where you are going, or you will have a lot of trouble getting there. Now that you have that plan in place, you need to create business. To stay up on things, visit current real estate blogs, and network with other Realtors through Realtor discussion forums. Next, narrow down your marketing to one single niche, and go all in on that.
You can branch out later, but for now it is more time and cost effective to work just a single part of the real estate market. Learn everything you can about that niche. You will start building your business faster than you thought possible if you do it right. I got started trying the broad approach, with minimal results. After some time, I decided to focus on only working with investors in a certain part of town, and that worked out great. Getting the proper investment training is all it took to get started, and then just putting in the time to make things happen.
